Accident & Emergency Physicians (Temporary)
The Emergency Room physician provides emergency and urgent clinical patient-centered care for all patients in the Accident & Emergency Department (A&E).
Primary Responsibilities: Postholder directs management of patients under their care which is not limited to resuscitation of unstable patients, management of trauma, medical surgical, orthopaedics, ENT ophthalmological, gynaecological, paediatric, and psychiatric emergencies. As part of a multidisciplinary team, postholder informs and consults the admitting services regarding patients if needed, manages all walk-in/urgent care patients and admission to A&E and the continuing flow of patients through the urgent care system. Postholder also acts as the secondary triage of patients to ensure that patients are receiving the appropriate treatment in a timely manner. Also provides support and supervision for senior and junior medical staff and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff and professional guidance to other health care workers. The postholder works closely with General Practice (GP) services in the care of patients transferring between the two departments.
Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate must have a primary Medical Degree (MBBS, MD) and a registered specialist degree in Emergency Medicine (ie. DM). Must have at least five (5) years postgraduate working experience within the hospital emergency room setting. The postholder must be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands. Must be a team player and available to respond to national disasters and mass casualties. Postholder exercises a high degree of professional judgment limited only by the departmental policies.
