Pharmacy

HSA Pharmacy supports patients with short-term illnesses, ongoing health conditions and specialised treatment needs. Our pharmacists work with patients and healthcare teams to help people understand their medicines and use them safely and effectively.

Outpatient Pharmacy Services

We dispense prescribed medicines and explain how to take them, what side effects to look out for and how to keep up with treatment. We also review patients’ medication lists to help ensure they are accurate and up to date and provide diabetes education and support.

Specially Prepared Medicines (Compounding)

We prepare medicines that are not available as ready-made products or when a medicine is in short supply.

Cancer Care Pharmacy Services

We prepare chemotherapy medicines in specially designed facilities that support safe handling and preparation. Our pharmacists review treatment plans, work with the cancer care team on any necessary dose adjustments and advise patients on medicines that help manage treatment side effects.

Diabetes Management

Our pharmacy team helps patients manage their diabetes through clinic-based care and education. Working with the patient’s primary doctor, we help start or adjust medicines, including insulin and other diabetes treatments. We also teach patients how to use blood glucose meters, support day-to-day self-care and monitor blood sugar levels over time.

Blood-Thinning Medication Management

We support patients taking warfarin, a medicine that helps prevent blood clots, and explain how to use it safely. We also advise healthcare teams on managing blood-thinning medicines before and after surgery, assessing bleeding risks and responding when their effects need to be reversed.

Supporting Safe and Effective Prescribing

Through the Drugs & Therapeutics Committee, we help assess and select medicines for use at HSA and develop guidance on prescribing. We also review medicine safety, reported side effects and the use of new or higher-risk medicines to support effective treatment and good value.

Pharmacy Support for Cardiac Rehabilitation

We provide individual sessions to help patients in cardiac rehabilitation understand their heart condition and medicines. We explain what each medicine does, how to take it, possible side effects, how it may interact with other medicines and when to expect benefits. These sessions also give patients an opportunity to discuss concerns or difficulties with their treatment.

Inpatient Pharmacy Services

Our pharmacists work with hospital care teams to support patients during their stay. We review prescriptions, supply medicines, take part in ward rounds and check that medication lists are accurate and up to date. We also review treatment daily and help patients understand their medicines.

Pharmacists provide 24-hour on-call support to hospital wards and emergency departments.

WhatsApp is the preferred method for refill requests, as it allows our pharmacy team to communicate directly with patients in real time regarding the status of their request and any additional information required.

Please note that online requests are submitted via email and do not provide direct status updates or feedback regarding the progress of your refill request.

Phone – Call 345-244-2715 or 345-244-7542 between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to request a refill or speak with a member of our pharmacy team.

In Person – Refill requests may be made in person at any HSA Pharmacy location (including district pharmacies) except the Anthony S. Eden Hospital Pharmacy.

Refills will also be delivered to civil servants working at the Government Administration Building.

*Refill requests submitted via WhatsApp, phone, online form, or in person are only available for prescriptions with refills remaining. If you require a new prescription, please contact your doctor. Most refill requests are processed within 24 hours. Refill services are available at all HSA Pharmacy locations (including district pharmacies) except the Anthony S. Eden Hospital Pharmacy.
