Laboratory Quality Coordinator

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the laboratory’s Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure accurate, reliable diagnostic results and patient safety. The role oversees quality control processes, policy and procedure documentation, staff training and competency, and compliance with international accreditation standards.

Key responsibilities include monitoring quality indicators and KPIs, investigating non-conformances and complaints, and coordinating corrective actions to enhance service quality. The postholder reports on QMS performance to leadership, supports Point of Care Testing (POCT) programs, and facilitates communication with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and referral laboratories. Additionally, the role leads quality improvement initiatives, administers customer feedback mechanisms, supports continuing education for laboratory staff, and ensures alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.

Qualifications and Experience: Applicants should possess a Bachelors in Medical Technology and a postgraduate certificate in Laboratory Quality Management. The applicant should have a valid registration or meet eligibility requirements to be licensed by the Council for Professionals Allied with Medical (CPAM) Cayman Islands. A minimum of seven (7) years of recent medical laboratory experience with at least two (2) years supervisory experience is required. The applicant should demonstrate knowledge of process analysis and continuous performance improvement theory and practice. He/she should demonstrate knowledge of infection control and laboratory safety. Must be proficient in LIS and PC applications. The applicant should have good oral and written communication skills.
