Dr. Pradip Thakker brings over two decades of extensive clinical and leadership experience in paediatrics, neonatology, and paediatric cardiology to the Health Services Authority of the Cayman Islands. A UK-trained consultant, Dr. Thakker has held prominent roles across leading NHS and international institutions, including Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Nobles Hospital in the Isle of Man, where he most recently served as Clinical Director for Integrated Care of Women, Children, and Families.
Dr. Thakker holds dual accreditation in general pediatrics and neonatology but also has pediatric cardiology expertise, having led specialist cardiac clinics and coordinated care for complex congenital heart disease. He has pioneered pediatric syncope services at Nottingham University Hospital and pediatric echo education in the UK and has been a senior MRCPCH examiner globally.
His leadership is distinguished by transformational service development. At Nobles Hospital, Isle of Man he improved neonatal care by integrating Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (ANNPs), introduced robust medical staffing on call rota, established cardiac service, and enhanced multidisciplinary collaboration across pediatric and women's health pathways. His clinical director role extended to strategic oversight of obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, neonatology, school nursing and health visiting, integrated sexual health, and gender incongruence.
With his publications and conference hosting background, Dr. Thakker has contributed to policy discussions and service frameworks. He is passionate about continuous quality improvement and patient-centered care and has consistently championed innovation, workforce development, and governance excellence throughout his career.
At HSA Cayman, Dr. Thakker joins an established and experienced team to utilize his experience and help in advancing pediatric and neonatal services and help manage children on the island with cardiac related symptomatology, promoting evidence-based practices, and mentoring the next generation of Caribbean pediatricians. His clinical acumen, combined with his strategic leadership, will contribute to the enhancement of child health and integrated family care across the Cayman Islands.
