Registered Nurse - Dialysis
Job Summary: The Registered Nurse renders and promotes safe and effective patient care within the scope of nursing practice and health service policies. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for the patients and staff, following the infection control policies of the Health Services and Dialysis unit. Following physicians’ orders, plan and implement individual dialysis treatments, promoting patient safety and comfort. Coordinates care with other departments and the medical staff to meet the patient’s total care needs. Provides patient and family teaching to ensure patient compliance with treatment and allay apprehension. Maintain accurate detailed reports and records of patient care provided. Provides teaching and educational material as appropriate validates and documents patient and family understanding of teaching. Evaluates the efficiency of equipment and goods supplied, e.g. performs dialyzer trials and report any deficiencies to management so that appropriate action can be taken. Administers departmental affairs e.g. prepare dialysis schedule, drafts any new policies, charts, etc.
Qualifications & Experience: The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a qualified Registered Nurse in the specialty area mentioned above. Certification in Renal Nursing is preferred. All candidates must be registered in either of the following jurisdictions to be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands; Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and/or Australia. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
