Coming from a background in community volunteering, Caymanian physician Dr. Samantha Mascarenhas devoted her efforts to practicing medicine as a first-aid responder with The University of the West Indies Student Emergency Response Team for several years before earning her MBBS in 2021.
She returned home to Cayman for her internship year, during which she rotated through the specialties and found her niche in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Dr. Mascarenhas completed her Senior House Officer rotation in OBGYN at the Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Jamaica, where she further developed her clinical acumen and perseverance in the craft of medicine.
She returned to the HSA as a Registrar in the Women's Health Department. Her professional journey includes involvement in initiatives, including clinical audits, that have contributed to improving care within the Women’s Health Department.
