Dr John Gillooly

About Me

Dr John Gillooly is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority, providing specialist care in shoulder conditions and general orthopaedic trauma.

He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and is on the specialist register for Trauma and Orthopaedics. He trained in the United Kingdom, United States, and Australia, gaining broad experience across elective and emergency practice. This international training informs a measured, evidencebased, and patient-focused approach to treatment.

Dr Gillooly has a particular interest in shoulder pathology. He manages conditions including rotator cuff disease, shoulder instability, adhesive capsulitis, arthritis, impingement syndromes, and post-traumatic shoulder disorders. Treatment is tailored to the individual and ranges from structured non-operative care to advanced surgical intervention. Procedures performed include arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, stabilisation surgery, subacromial decompression, and management of complex shoulder injuries.

Alongside his subspecialty practice, Dr Gillooly maintains a comprehensive trauma workload. He treats fractures and soft tissue injuries of upper and lower limbs, providing both operative fixation and conservative management where appropriate, with a strong emphasis on rehabilitation and restoration of function.

Dr Gillooly also contributes to clinical governance, service development, and education, supporting the continued delivery of modern, sustainable orthopaedic services across the Cayman Islands for patients and clinicians.
