Urology and Men's Health

HSA Urology offers comprehensive care services addressing a wide range of urological conditions to promote optimal urological health.

What is Urology?

Urology is a specialized medical field that focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions affecting the urinary tract system in both males and females, as well as male reproductive health.

Urology Services

Our Urology Department offers a comprehensive range of Urology services to address various urological conditions. Our services include:

Evaluation and Diagnosis: We provide thorough evaluations and diagnostic procedures to accurately identify urological conditions. Our team utilizes advanced imaging techniques, laboratory tests, and urodynamic studies to obtain precise diagnoses.

Treatment and Management: Our experienced Urology specialists offer personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. We provide both surgical and non-surgical interventions for conditions such as:

  • urinary tract infections
  • inability to control urination (urinary incontinence)
  • blood in the urine (hematuria)
  • painful bladder (interstitial cystitis)
  • cancers of the bladder, kidneys, and prostate
  • erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • kidney stones
  • pelvic organ prolapse
  • congenital urinary tract issues

Men's Health

Men's health encompasses a range of urological conditions specific to males. We recognize the importance of addressing men's urological health concerns.

Our Urology specialist is skilled in providing specialized care for conditions such as:

  • erectile dysfunction
  • male infertility
  • prostate diseases
  • benign prostatic hyperplasia
  • prostate cancer
  • male urinary incontinence

Our Urology department offers a comprehensive range of procedures, conditions, and treatments, including:

Minimally Invasive Surgeries: We specialise in minimally invasive urological surgeries and endoscopic procedures. These advanced techniques result in faster recovery times, reduced scarring, and improved outcomes for conditions like kidney stones, prostate issues, and urologic cancers.

Endourology: We offer endourological procedures, including ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy, for the treatment of kidney stones and other urinary tract obstructions.

Urologic Cancer Care: Our team provides comprehensive care for urologic cancers, such as bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers. We offer advanced diagnostic imaging, surgical interventions, and radiation therapy, and collaborate with other specialists to provide multidisciplinary cancer care.

Risk Factors

Several factors can contribute to urological conditions and should be considered for prevention and early detection.

Our Urology specialists are equipped to assess and address these risk factors, providing guidance on prevention and early intervention strategies.

These risk factors may include:

  • age
  • family history
  • certain lifestyle choices
  • obesity
  • exposure to environmental toxins
Reasons you might see a Urologist

You may make an appointment or get a referral to a urologist if you have:

  • Trouble urinating (peeing), including getting started or having a strong flow of urine, pain, cloudy urine, or blood in the urine
  • Changes in urination, like frequent urination or feeling like you always have to go
  • Trouble getting or keeping an erection
  • Infertility
  • Pelvic pain
  • Urinating when you don’t want to, like at night or when you sneeze, laugh or exercise
Difference between urology and nephrology

If you want to see a doctor who specializes only in the kidneys, you’d make an appointment with a nephrologist.

Nephrology is considered a subspecialty, but it’s a subspecialty of internal medicine rather than urology. This means that nephrologists aren’t surgeons. Nephrologists must also be able to manage conditions that happen elsewhere in the body that cause kidney problems or happen because of kidney problems, like high blood pressure.

Urologists, on the other hand, are surgeons.
