Diagnostic & Therapeutic Services
We offer a comprehensive range of procedures and evaluations to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis, as well as tailored treatment plans.
Measure how well your lungs work. These include spirometry, lung volumes, and diffusion capacity to diagnose and monitor conditions like asthma, COPD, and interstitial lung disease. Results are interpreted by our specialists to guide your treatment plan.
Visual inspection and sampling of airways. Performed under light sedation, this procedure can collect tissue/fluid samples to diagnose infections, tumours, or bleeding and can also remove mucus plugs or foreign bodies when needed.
Drainage and pleurodesis to treat fluid buildup. Using ultrasound guidance, we safely remove fluid to relieve breathlessness and send samples for analysis to find the cause (e.g., infection, heart failure, cancer). For recurrent effusions, we offer pleurodesis to help prevent fluid from returning.
At-home or in-hospital testing for sleep apnea and other disorders. Studies track breathing, oxygen levels, and sleep patterns; our pulmonologist reviews the results and, if indicated, starts therapy such as CPAP and provides ongoing follow-up and mask fitting support.
Low-dose CT screening is available for eligible high-risk individuals, with rapid referral to diagnostics (imaging, bronchoscopy, or biopsy) when abnormalities are found. Our team coordinates next steps so you get answers and care quickly.
Bedside assessments and procedures for admitted patients. We manage complex breathing problems such as severe asthma/COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, and pleural disease, and support ventilator and non-invasive ventilation care. When needed, we perform bedside procedures (e.g., thoracentesis, bronchoscopy) and collaborate closely with the relevant hospital units.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme
Launched in 2025, the HSA’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme is a structured 12-week initiative designed to support individuals living with chronic lung diseases such as COPD, interstitial lung disease, and cystic fibrosis.
Through supervised exercise sessions, weekly group education, and a multidisciplinary care team, the programme aims to help patients breathe easier, strengthen their lungs, and regain confidence in managing their condition. Education sessions cover topics like nutrition, medication, oxygen therapy, and emotional well-being with special evening workshops open to caregivers and the public.
By improving lung function and reducing complications, pulmonary rehab empowers patients to lead more active, independent lives.
