Our world-class Pathology Laboratories in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac serves the majority of the population of the Cayman Islands. They are operated by a highly qualified and committed team of specialists and support staff. We conduct a wide variety of tests including microbiology (bacteriology, parasitology and virology), histology, cytology, haematology, clinical chemistry and immunohaematology.
Our Phlebotomy team collects blood samples for the purpose of medical testing to help determine disease diagnosis and management. All our phlebotomy services are walk-in only.
Our Phlebotomy service at the Cayman Islands Hospital operates Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 6:30 PM and on Saturday at 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
We also offer on-site phlebotomy services at the Smith Road Medical Centre, 2nd Floor Monday – Friday 7:00am – 5pm.
Patients can obtain their test results from their physicians who requested the tests, from their Patient Portal or the Medical Records Department of the HSA. Phlebotomy does not directly send results to patients.
Transfusion of blood and blood products helps save millions of lives every year. The Cayman Islands Blood Blank, which operates from the George Town Hospital, provides patients access to safe blood and blood products, which is a key component of an effective health system. An adequate supply can only be ensured through regular donations by voluntary, unpaid blood donors.
You can book an appointment with us through our website bloodbank.ky or call 244-2674. You can also walk in. Opening hours are Monday - Friday 7:00am - 6:30pm and Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm. We are closed on Sunday.
Apheresis (platelet donation) is also offered at the Blood Bank. This enables us to collect platelets from our blood donors. This is a huge advantage for our patients in need of platelets transfusion as we no longer need to have platelets flown in from overseas.
