Consultant Pulmonologist
The Pulmonologist provides pulmonology services at the HSA including management of patients with acute and chronic lung conditions, outpatient pulmonology clinic, pulmonology consult for other physicians in the Cayman Islands. The post holder is expected to carry out bronchoscopy, BAL, EBUS if feasible and other pulmonology related procedures based on the case demands.
Primary Responsibilities: The successful applicant is responsible for managing a 24-hour pulmonary service in conjunction with the other consultants on a rotational basis. This includes providing regular general medical outpatient clinics and ward rounds, manages cases referred by other disciplines within the hospital (i.e. Emergency Room, General Practice, CCU), and non-HSA physicians when on duty. Also manages sub-specialty emergency cases while on duty in the absence of those specialists (Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology and Cardiology.) and provides advise to, or accept cases as referred by Faith Hospital, Cayman Brac. Postholder establishes, with colleagues, an ongoing educational program for the junior physicians within the department and takes part in continuing professional development for medical staff.
Qualifications & Experience: The successful applicant must possess specialist qualifications (i.e. MRCP) with seven (7) years' experience practicing in the Pulmonology discipline within a hospital setting. The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team is highly essential. Must be competent in sleep studies and management of sleep apnea.
CAYMAN ISLANDS LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
All applicants must be eligible to obtain specialist registration with the Health Practice Commission in order to practice in the Cayman Islands. Must be registered in one of these jurisdictions to be eligible; Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and/or Australia. In addition to base salary, we provide full healthcare coverage at no cost to employees, pensions plan, paid holidays, 25 days annual leave, malpractice coverage, air passage along with freight allowance to the Cayman Islands.
