Patient Financial Services Manager
The PFS Manager manages the Patient Financial Services department and is responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of patient care, including billing, collections, insurance claims and revenue cycle management. This role ensures timely and accurate financial transactions while maintaining compliance and enhancing patient satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities: The Patient Financial Services Manager is responsible for leading the hospital’s revenue cycle operations to maximize cash collections, minimize outstanding accounts receivable, and ensure excellent customer service. This includes oversight of patient registration, insurance verification, billing, claims management, collections, payment posting, and financial counselling. The manager will develop strategies to reduce bad debt, improve cash flow, and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. Key duties include supervising PFS staff, optimizing revenue capture, monitoring financial performance, preparing reports for leadership, and fostering strong relationships with patients, insurers, and stakeholders. This role plays a vital part in ensuring financial sustainability while supporting high-quality patient care.
Qualifications and Experience: The successful candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree, preferably a Master’s degree, in Business, Healthcare Administration Management, or a related field, along with professional accounting certification (CA, CPA, or equivalent). He/she must have at least five (5) years of hospital finance or revenue cycle management experience at the managerial level in a large hospital (100+ beds).
We are seeking a leader with strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance verification, healthcare coding, and hospital revenue cycles, as well as proficiency in billing software, financial systems, and Microsoft Office. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential, with the ability to motivate teams and collaborate effectively with physicians, clinical leaders, and senior executives. Experience with Cerner or other hospital information systems is an asset, and familiarity with healthcare regulations and policies (preferably Cayman Islands legislation) is highly desirable.
