Patient-centred care
We are committed to treating every patient with dignity, respect, compassion, and clear communication.
Quality you can trust
JCI accreditation means our services are evaluated against internationally recognised healthcare standards.
Continuous improvement
We regularly evaluate and improve our services to ensure we continue meeting the needs of our patients and community.
What is Joint Commission International (JCI)?
Joint Commission International (JCI) is one of the world's leading healthcare accreditation organisations.
Healthcare organisations that pursue JCI accreditation undergo a rigorous evaluation process that examines how care is delivered, how patients are protected, how staff are supported, and how healthcare services continuously improve over time.
JCI accreditation is recognised globally as a symbol of an organisation's commitment to delivering safe, high-quality healthcare.
Surveyors assess hundreds of measurable standards across multiple areas of healthcare operations, including:
- Patient safety
- Quality of care
- Patient rights and education
- Infection prevention and control
- Medication Management
- Leadership and governance
- Emergency preparedness
- Staff qualifications and training
- Continuous quality improvement
What re-accreditation means?
Re-accreditation means the HSA has once again demonstrated compliance with rigorous international healthcare standards.
This re-accreditation confirms the HSA continues to meet internationally recognised expectations for quality, patient safety, leadership, infection prevention, medication management, emergency preparedness, patient rights, and many other critical areas of healthcare delivery.
What this means for patients and families
At HSA, every decision begins with one question: How can we provide safer, better care for our patients? JCI Re-Accreditation reinforces our commitment to answering that question every day.
Greater Confidence in Your Care
Independent healthcare experts have evaluated our systems and processes against internationally recognised standards. Patients can have confidence that HSA continues to prioritise quality and safety in the care we provide.
Strong Focus on Patient Safety
Patient safety is at the forefront of every process. From verifying patient identity and administering medications safely to preventing infections and improving communication among healthcare teams, safety remains a core priority throughout the patient journey.
Respect for Patient Rights
Patients have the right to be informed, involved in their care, and treated with dignity and respect. JCI standards reinforce these principles and help ensure patient-centred care remains a priority.
Consistent Standards Across Services
Whether visiting one of our hospitals, clinics, diagnostic services, or specialty centres, patients can expect care supported by consistent quality standards across the organisation.
Ongoing Improvement
Healthcare is constantly evolving. Accreditation encourages organisations to learn, improve, and adapt so patients continue receiving the best possible care.

Patient Safety Concerns
Patients, families, and visitors who have concerns regarding patient safety or the quality of care received at the Health Services Authority (HSA) may also report these concerns directly to Joint Commission International (JCI).
JCI reviews concerns related to patient safety, quality of care, and compliance with international healthcare standards in accredited healthcare organisations. Reporting a concern to JCI does not replace HSA’s Patient Feedback Form and resolution process, but serves as an additional avenue for individuals who wish to raise concerns externally.
Submitting a report will not affect a patient’s access to care, treatment, or services.
You may submit a concern directly through the JCI Patient Safety Concerns or Complaints or email: JCIQuality@jcrinc.com
