Event Description

The next Sickle Cell Support Group meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 23 Sept 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM in the Hibiscus Conference Room at HSA. This session will feature Community Dietitian Tamara Whorms-Riley, who will share information about the importance of nutrition and sickle cell disorder. The meeting is open to the public, and we encourage all interested individuals to attend.

The Sickle Cell Support Group is a safe and welcoming space for individuals living with sickle cell disease and their families to come together, share experiences and receive support. It usually meets twice a year and is organised by the Genetic Coordinator in the Public Health Department.

These meetings are designed to:

  • Provide emotional & social support
  • Share useful information about managing sickle cell disease
  • Offer an opportunity to ask questions and engage with healthcare professionals
  • Help affected individuals and their families feel less alone by connecting with others who understand their journey.
