The Public Health Department announces the start of the 2026/27 seasonal flu vaccination programme, with vaccination opportunities being rolled out across the Cayman Islands over the coming weeks.

Dr Samuel Williams Rodriguez, Director of Primary Health Care at the CIHSA and Medical Officer of Health, is encouraging residents to take advantage of the available vaccination opportunities, particularly those who may be at greater risk of complications from influenza.

“Influenza can affect anyone, but for some individuals it can lead to more serious illness and complications. We encourage everyone aged six months and older to get their flu vaccine this season. Vaccination not only provides individual protection but also helps to reduce the spread of influenza among our families and throughout the wider community.”

Flu Vaccination Schedule

  • Anthony S. Eden Hospital – Atrium: Wednesday, 30 September through Friday, 9 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • District Health Centres and General Practice Clinic (GPC): Beginning Monday, 12 October 2026, Monday through Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Participating Supermarkets: Community vaccination outreach will begin Saturday, 31 October 2026. Details of participating locations, dates and times will be announced separately.
  • Cayman Brac and Little Cayman: Residents may contact Faith Hospital at 948-2243 or the Little Cayman Health Centre at 948-0072 / 916-5395 for information on vaccination arrangements.

Vaccines will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. No appointments are required for the scheduled vaccination sessions.

Workplace Flu Vaccination Programme

The Public Health Department's workplace flu vaccination programme will commence Monday, 2 November 2026, providing businesses and organisations with an opportunity to have eligible employees vaccinated on-site.

Companies with 20 or more employees wishing to arrange a workplace vaccination session may contact the Public Health Department at 244-2621 or 244-2889, or email publichealthdepartment@hsa.ky .

COVID-19 Vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine is expected to become available later in the season. Public Health will provide further information on availability and vaccination locations once supplies are received.
