Dr Neely Panton

Dr. O. Neely M. Panton, MB, BS, FRCSC, FACS, Sc. D (UCCI), Honorary Member, Canadian Medical Association, is an internationally recognised surgeon and pioneer of laparoscopic and robotic surgery in British Columbia, with a distinguished medical career spanning more than 40 years.
He played a key role in advancing surgical techniques in the region. He introduced several advanced procedures to British Columbia, including performing the first robotic colectomy for cancer.
Dr. Panton served as Clinical Professor in the Division of General Surgery within the Department of Surgery at the UBC Faculty of Medicine. He also held the position of Head of the UBC Division of General Surgery at Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital.
He graduated from the University of the West Indies (UWI) Medical School in 1977 and completed his General Surgery Residency at the University of British Columbia in 1984.
