The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) has been hard at work in ensuring that all members of the public gain free, easy access to information regarding their own blood pressure levels. A new addition to the family of open blood pressure kiosks has been made available to the public at Faith Hospital in Cayman Brac.
“The Public Department has made significant contributions in the Cayman Islands by implementing this initiative to make blood pressure kiosks available to all across the islands,” said Dr. Srirangan Velusamy, Director of Sister Islands Health Services.
“High blood pressure and diabetes are extremely prevalent in today’s population. We are very confident that these kiosks will give individuals the opportunity to monitor their blood pressure, helping guard themselves against chronic conditions. It will also encourage many to take personal liability for their health with the ease and convenience these machines provide,” Dr.Velusamy said.
This is the fourth new blood pressure machine to be installed this year. Convenient access to the first three can be found at the Government Administrative Building and the Cayman Islands Hospital: one at the General Practice Unit and the other in the Atrium of the main entrance.
The HSA hopes that this will motivate all members of the general public in taking the necessary measures to keep up-to-date with their blood pressure levels considering the terrible risks associated with high blood pressure levels: three of which are heart attacks, strokes, and diabetes. All are highly encouraged to use any of these blood pressure machines as an extra step to better health and making wiser decisions.
