COVID vaccination schedule week of 8th February 2021

by Brooke Moore / Thursday, 04 February 2021 / Published in News, Public Health

The Public Health Department has published the COVID-19 vaccination schedule for the week commencing Monday 8th February 2021.

The COVID-19 vaccination programme continues to administer Dose 2 vaccinations for persons due from Stage 1, Group A, B and C.

“It is imperative that we vaccinate as many of our vulnerable persons in the community as possible,” said Dr Hazel Brown, HSA Chief Nursing Officer and Acting CEO. “I encourage all persons 60 years and older to please come forward to get your vaccine. If you have not yet received your first dose, you may attend the vaccination clinic during any of the published times to receive your vaccine. Age is the leading contributor to severe COVID-19 disease and poor outcomes.  Protecting yourself will also help protect the vulnerable in the community.”

Individuals receiving their second dose are reminded that the date noted on the vaccination card for the second dose is the earliest date in which you can receive the vaccine. If you received your first dose at a District Health Centre you can receive your second dose at the airport should you choose to do so on your appropriate date and Surname time.

“The new offsite COVID vaccination clinic at the airport has proven to be a great location to administer the vaccine in large numbers,” Dr Brown said. “It has significantly improved our efficiency and has improved the overall experience for patients as it has a large space, ample parking and reduces the wait time. We remind people to come throughout your allocated time slot as arriving early to wait in a queue is not necessary.”

As a reminder, the vaccination clinic previously located at the Cayman Islands Hospital is now located at Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA) check-in area.  Facemasks are also required at all of the vaccination clinics.

If you are home bound and unable to attend one of the vaccination clinics, please contact the Flu Hotline 1-800-534-8600 or 925-6327 or your local HSA District Health Centre and arrangements will be made to with a Public Health nurse to provide your vaccine in the comfort of your home.

The Public is reminded to adhere to the published schedule to limit congestion at the various vaccination sites.

When receiving your second dose, you MUST also bring along your vaccination card reflecting your first dose. Public Health will not be administering the vaccine before the date noted on your vaccination card.
