Anaesthetist (Faith Hospital)

The Consultant Anaesthetist provides high quality patient-centred anaesthestic services at the Faith Hospital, Cayman Brac.

Primary Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for performing weekly preoperative assessments for patients residing in the Sister Islands who require surgery at Faith Hospital or Cayman Islands Hospital. The successful candidate will serve as the primary manager of patients in the Emergency Room and General Practice Clinic at Faith Hospital on a rotational basis with other Physicians. The candidate will manage patients at Little Cayman Health Center once every 1-2 months as part of a rotational schedule with other Physicians at Faith Hospital. The candidate will administer anaesthetics, including providing a maternity epidural service, provide critical care services for the patients housed temporarily in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) in collaboration with other specialties, and provide chronic pain services and consultative advice to the terminal care team in the community. Additionally, the candidate will assist with Neonatal Resuscitation and management of neonatal jaundice as needed and be available for Emergency Room resuscitation when on call.

Qualifications & Experience: The successful candidate must possess a Medical Degree (MBBS or MB ChB) along with postgraduate qualifications in Anaesthesiology (DM or FRCA), or equivalent from a recognized institution in one of the seven (7) jurisdictions: Jamaica, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, UK as required by the Cayman Islands Health Practice Commission. The candidate must have a valid license as a specialist in any of the recognized jurisdictions. In addition, the candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years postgraduate specialist experience in the relevant services to be provided.
