Accident & Emergency renovations continue over public holiday weekend

by Monique Spence / Friday, 12 May 2023 / Published in News

The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) Accident & Emergency (A&E) service will be temporarily relocated from Friday, 12 May 5:30 PM until Tuesday morning, 16 May 2023 due to renovations to expand and enhance the service.

Patients requiring emergency care may access A&E using the main hospital atrium entrance. Signage and security will be in place for directions.

Persons with non-emergency needs such as flu, earache, mild sprains, cuts and colds can visit HSA’s Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) located in the George Town Hospital’s atrium (main entrance). The walk-in clinic will be open throughout this weekend for better convenience to patients during the A&E relocation; weekend opening hours are:

Saturday, 13 May: 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
Sunday, 14 May: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Monday, 15 May: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

A&E will remain open 24 hours a day without interruption to ensure the continuity of patient care.

Reasons to visit Accident & Emergency:

• Loss of consciousness
• Persistent, severe chest pain
• Breathing difficulties
• Severe bleeding
• Severe allergic reactions
• Severe burns or scalds
• Acute confused state and fits that are not stopping

We apologise for any inconvenience this project may cause and thank our patients for their understanding as we continue to enhance our facility to deliver better experience and care.

Patients are reminded to their own facemasks, as masks are still required at all HSA locations.
