The Cayman Islands Health Services Authority is one of the leaders in health care in the region; it covers the three islands of Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. The Authority has a 112 bed hospital in George Town (24 hour full service medical facility), a 18 bed hospital, Cayman Brac, 5 Health Centres, a Dental & Eye Clinic. The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory, with a population of approximately 55,000, located about 450 miles south of Florida. The islands enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the Caribbean.
Ophthalmologist
The post-holder will be one of the two eye physicians offering comprehensive general ophthalmology service. The unit is well-equipped, with immersion biometry, Oculus Pentacam for anterior surface imaging, Topcon OCT for retinal and optic disc imaging, Alcon Infiniti phaco-emulsifier and LeicaF40 operating microscope. The service is committed to providing state-of-the-art cataract surgery, with multifocal toric lenses used commonly.
Qualification & Experience: The ideal candidate is preferred to have at least 5 years post-qualification experience, especially small-incision phaco-emulsification cataract surgery. Those with an interest in diabetic retinopathy and paediatric ophthalmology, including strabismus surgery and refraction, will be preferred. Must be registered in either of the following jurisdictions to be eligible to practice in the Cayman Islands; Jamaica, USA, UK, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and/or Australia.
