Accident & Emergency

The Accident and Emergency Unit provides 24-hour coverage for persons who need urgent medical care. It is staffed with specially trained Physicians and Registered Nurses at all times. Other Specialist such as Surgeons, Gynaecologist, Paediatricians and Radiologists are available "on call" after normal working hours if needed.

Community/Public Health Services

Through five satellite health centres – one for each district in Grand Cayman – the Community Health Services provides primary care across the island. This supports the Cayman Islands Health Service Authority’s firm belief that every member of the community is entitled to the highest possible standard of health care through a community-based health system.

Dialysis Unit

People who have malfunctioning kidneys know that the service provided by the haemodialysis unit is crucial. This modern purpose built facility is fully equipped to meet the specific needs of hemodialysis patients. The unit has facilities to accommodate up to ten (10) dialysis patients at a time.

Dental Services

The aim of the Cayman Islands Dental Service is to ensure that all Caymanians and residents have the opportunity to retain a functional and healthy mouth for life by preventing what is preventable and by containing the remaining disease or deformity by the efficient and effective distribution of treatment resources. As a tourist destination we provide an emergency dental service to visitors as well as residents.

Eye Clinic

We perform minor procedures such as chalazion removal in the outpatient setting and local and general anaesthetic procedures such as cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery and pterygium surgery in the hospital's main operating theatre.

General Practice

Hospital provides a range of general family health services and offers a variety of up-to-date diagnostic and treatment services in a modern and friendly environment. The Clinic is staffed with physicians who are trained to deal with emergency situations, as well as common colds. Appointments for routine care and follow-up visits can be pre-booked. Services provided: 1) Diagnosis, investigation and treatment of non life threatening illnesses. 2) Routine care of chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and muscle and joint problems. 3) Routine check ups including medicals, PAP smears. 4) Diabetic Clinic 5) Dressing changes


Laboratory Services

The Pathology Laboratory of the Health Authority serves the majority of the population of the Cayman Islands. Specimens are received from Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Highly experienced and dedicated registered dietitians provide up to date evidence based dietary counseling and medical nutrition therapy. Nutrition services include individualized detailed assessments and diet plans which range from weight management for adults and children to health eating with diabetes, high cholesterol and much more. Several clinics are offered weekly. Direct referrals are accepted.

Physiotherapy Services at the HSA is housed within a spacious and modern facility. A complement of highly trained and dedicated staff provides individualized, detailed assessments and treatments in all areas of physiotherapy. On staff are two neuro trained therapists who specialize in rehabilitation following stroke or other neurological conditions.

Pharmacy

The Cayman Islands Hospital has its own Pharmacy, which fills prescriptions written by hospital and private physicians. The normal waiting time for a prescription to be filled is approximately one half hour, although during peak times of 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM it may take longer. To reduce the time spent waiting, please drop your prescription off and return to collect your medicine later. You may also call refills in ahead of time (at least 24-48 hrs) during weekdays between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Please be sure to give your name, the name of the medication, and the prescription number (the ten-digit number located in the lower right hand corner of the prescription label). When picking up your medication, please have your insurance card available.

Recompression Chamber

Cayman Hyperbaric Services' team of 30 qualified and dedicated part-time operators and attendants operate Cayman's only Recompression Chamber. Located at the Cayman Islands Hospital, the unit is readily available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on an on-call basis to treat diving emergencies and other elective medical problems.
