The Cayman Islands Hospital has four surgical suites, three of which are used for major surgeries, while the fourth is available for all minor outpatient procedures. Operations in several disciplines are performed in our Operating Theatres including: ear, nose and throat, plastic surgery, orthopaedic, eye, vascular, urology, all types of general surgery, laparoscopic surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology.

The rooms are equipped with sterile preparation areas and each have a steriliser for quick, on-site sterilisation of equipment. Persons coming in to have minor operations (day-case surgeries) are cared for in the Ambulatory care unit, rather than having to be admitted to the surgical unit. The operating rooms are used not only by government surgeons but also by those in the private sector. There is a fully equipped 3 bed pre-operative area and a 4-bed post anaesthetic recovery room.

All staff are trained peri-operative nurses.
